Legal aid clinic in law schools

A legal clinic (also called a law school clinic or law clinic ) is a program organized through law school that allows students to receive law school credit as they work part-time in real (not simulated) legal service atmospheres. In legal clinics , students perform various tasks just as an attorney would do in the same job position, such as doing legal research , drafting briefs and other legal documents, and interviewing clients. Legal Aid Clinic The Eugene Dupuch Law School Legal Aid Clinic serves as a training facility for students of the Law School and is operated for the benefit of persons who, in the opinion of the Director, are unable to afford the services of a practitioner in private practice. In the Clinic , students have a unique opportunity to deepen and broaden their knowledge of law through working on live cases and then critically reflecting on what they have done.


Every clinic student acquires valuable legal skills not accessible in the traditional classroom setting, and gains firsthand insight into the strategic and ethical dimensions of the legal profession. In the Legal Advice Clinic , our law students work under the supervision of qualified lawyers, interview clients, analyse their legal problems and research the issues involved. Clients are then sent a written letter of advice, normally within two weeks of the initial interview.


We help set up and maintain sustainable clinic partnerships between LawWorks members, law schools and advice agencies to help address unmet legal need in the community. The Clinic provides a valuable community service and is an excellent training ground for the students and allows them to develop transferable skills to enhance their employability and gain experience of how the law actually impacts on the lives of real people. The Law Clinic is run by law student volunteers. Student volunteers and staff are now working remotely. We are continuing to work on ongoing cases remotely and have put in place measures to allow this to happen.

Several Harvard Law School clinics are shifting their focus to provide legal aid to vulnerable populations affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It is the first high school legal aid clinic in the country. He plans to use the $10he received to start more legal clinics.
